    Description

    Irish Pine antique Treen Bowl.
As you can see, pictured, there are 2 metal staples holds the cracked old pine in place [pic 3 and 4], and worm holes which are common in antique Irish Pine [pic 5].
This came from an Irish Pine Antiques shop, now out-of-business. It was brought back from Ireland by the owner of the shop, now deceased. He worked in Ireland for several years, and [by doing so] set up his business back in the states, Irish antiques, especially antique Irish Pine.
I got to know this man well, and worked for and with him a bit. I leaned that the worm holes are common, as I said, and also the way the bowl was repaired is typically an Irish repair of an earlier era, if not still today in some parts. [The pine was back then was scarce, as were other woods, so the Irish tended to repair everything.]
I saw a few of these October 2016 across from Kilkenny Castle, upstairs in that little restaurant.
11" across the top and about 2 1/4" deep.
