Description
This hand crafted bronze St. Patrick sculpture is in perfect, new condition even though it is Vintage. I purchased it in NYC from an Art Dealer in late 1999-early 2000 and it has been in storage all this time. Never hung and with the original purchase price still on it. It's beautifully made as you will see in the pictures and is in a silver wooden frame with glass. Unique and beautiful. The sculpture was created by Kathleen Smyth from Ireland (currently co-owner of Wild Goose Studio, Ireland) and is based on St Patrick as depicted on St Patrick's Cross in Carndonagh, County Donegal, Ireland.
It
is hand crafted and coated with Bronze.
A laminated card gives the background of this sculpture. It states:
"Patron saint of Ireland, he made medieval Ireland unique in the western world by blending its ancient wisdom with its Christian future. He transformed rather than extinguish the pagan inheritance of energy and mysticism. The Celts continue to be devout rebels, mingling the land of the saints with the land of the faery."
You could tape the laminated card with the description to the back of the frame or keep it
separately
for your records.
The Art Gallery in NYC has its label on the back as shown in the pictures. As best I can tell, the Art Gallery must have framed the sculpture in the shadowbox because I don't see this statue presented this way anywhere else. The wooden frame is silver and is enclosed in glass.
Measurements:
