    WELSH LOVESPOON
    This is a new, hand-made Welsh lovespoon. The custom of giving lovespoons has existed in Wales for over 300 years. The hand-made spoon was a token of lasting affection made by a young man for his sweetheart.
    Today, spoons made by local craftsmen still can be given with love or affection, or just as a unique gift.
    This spoon measures 9 1/2 inches long by 2 inches wide.
    Two hearts are side by side, as in life, in this very old and popular lovespoon design. There also is a diamond with the two hearts.
    Symbols on this spoon include 2hearts: in Welsh that is called Dwy Galon, meaning "togetherness."
    The other is a diamond, whichrepresents a wish for prosperity. In Welsh the word is "deiamwnt."
