Cheaper, single purpose silicone oils made in China that are used in closed hydraulic systems such as shocks and dampeners are not subject to such strict purity standards as are silicone liquids specifically designed to provide the cleanest solutions for moving parts and part maintenance.     Cheap silicone oil used in hydraulic applications when used externally, dries fairly quickly due to the chemical nature of the product that encourages it to attract more dust and grime much faster than a premium silicone liquid.
